This year, we’re having a Readathon to kick off Summer Reading and raise money for new books. We’ll receive 100% of our Readathon earnings for our Saddle Ranch Library.
How does it work? It’s simple!
Students will ask sponsors to pay a flat fee to fill in their bingo card, which is coming home on Thursday, May 2nd! Kids can cross off multiple boxes with a single reading session. PLEASE SIGN YOUR STUDENT’S COMPLETED CARD AND RETURN THE CARD TO THE LIBRARY. (There will be a box on Mrs. Meredith’s desk)
It’s fun and easy and gets kids excited for Summer Reading! Be sure to sign up with Douglas County Libraries for their Summer Reading Program. Registration opens in June. Cross off a free bingo square if you plan to register for summer reading at either DCL at www.dcl.org or DCSD’s Summer Reading Challenge at bit.ly/4dfcxcB
Invite family and friends. Payment can easily be made on MySchoolBucks.
If we raise just $15/student, we’ll make $5,000 for our library for new books.
The first 50 students to turn in completed cards will receive an Early Bird Prize, and the class with the highest participation will earn a pizza party!
Email your “shelfies” (selfies) of your student reading a book to go on our Check Yourshelf Out wall of fame! jmeredith1@dcsdk12.org
We’ll have lots of fun with Readathon Spirit Days!
For the week of May 6th, your child can bring a flashlight to the library to read in our forts. It will be an extra easy way to cross off some bingo squares!
Monday, May 6th: Reading knocks your socks off! CRAZY SOCK DAY
Tuesday, May 7th: Reading is exercise for your brain. WEAR YOUR FAVORITE SPORTS TEAMS
Wednesday, May 8th: Reading is better with a buddy. BRING A STUFFED ANIMAL
Thursday, May 9th: Wild about reading. WEAR ANIMAL PRINTS
Friday, May 10th: Relax with a book. PJS DAY!
Thank you so much for supporting reading and our library!
