Hello Saddle Ranch Families!

While this school year is going to be unlike anything we’ve experienced before, we want you to know that your Saddle Ranch Elementary PTIO is here to continue to support our Saddle Ranch staff and students, whether they are in person or remote.

We’d like to answer some frequently asked questions to keep you informed of our ever changing environment.

Will there still be PTIO meetings?

Yes! We will hold PTIO meetings over Zoom (or a similar platform) until it is safe to do so in person. A link to the meeting will be sent out to families, as well as posted in the Thursday folder and on the PTIO website. We will also try our best to record meetings and make them available to parents who weren’t able to tune in live (technology permitting). Meeting dates and times are as follows but may be subject to change.

Will events like the Ice Cream Social and Mustang Stampede still be happening?

Under guidelines from the Foundation for Douglas County Schools, DCSD, and CDC, we will be holding virtual events for at least the first half of the school year. This means family favorites such as the Ice Cream Social and the Mustang Stampede will not be held as they have in the past. HOWEVER, we have some EXCITING new events to take their place like our first ever Read-a-thon, Family Pizza Night, and much more! Do you have an idea for a new event or want to help organize one? Please email sreptio@gmail.com and let us know how you can help.

Will the PTIO still be raising money for SRE?

YES! Fundraising, like everything else, will look a little different this year, but SRE is still counting on your support. The current financial crisis has resulted in reductions in school budgets all across Colorado, and per-student funding has seen significant cuts. We will continue to fund learning initiatives at Saddle Ranch and support our SRE students and staff.

Saddle Ranch is going to have a Read-a-thon?!? How can I help?!

Since the Mustang Stampede is on hold for this year, Saddle Ranch will be hosting its first ever Read-a-thon! We’re looking for someone (or two or three) who would like to help plan this special event and make it a rousing success for our Saddle Ranch Mustangs.

  • Do you know a children’s book author who would like to read books virtually to our students?
  • Do you have a creative idea for incentive items for students who participate?
  • Have your students participated in a read-a-thon before and you want to share tips, tricks, and insight into how it went?

We would LOVE to hear from you! Please email SRE PTIO with any ideas you have!

Will you still be selling spiritwear?

ABSOLUTELY! Our fantastic spiritwear chair has set up a SquadLocker storefront for Saddle Ranch that includes several new offerings as well as old favorites. Our new vendor gives us a lot of flexibility in what we offer and available colors, so we’re excited to bring some new styles to SRE this year! We’ll still have your favorite t-shirts, performance tees and hoodies, but we’re also introducing shorts, fleece vests and jackets, blankets, and MASKS along with headbands and even PAJAMA PANTS! (a.k.a, your new at-home learning uniform.)

All orders include tracking information and will be shipped directly to your door. Even better, our spiritwear store will now be open all year long!

To order, click here, or go to bit.ly/SREspiritwear (updated link!)

We know the importance and difficulty of keeping track of your students’ belongings so we’ve partnered with Mabel’s Labels for all your labeling needs. They offer custom labels with your student’s name for everything you might want to label (backpacks, clothing, water bottles, lunch boxes, etc.) that are durable and will allow your student to clearly identify their belongings. You can place your order at campaigns.mabelslabels.com , just search for Saddle Ranch! Mabel’s Labels will donate a portion of each sale made through this link to SRE PTIO.

Is your student eLearning? Looking to stay connected to other eLearning parents and students?

We know eLearning will have its ups and downs, so make sure you stay connected with other SRE eLearning parents by joining the Facebook Groups “Saddle Ranch Elementary 100% eLearners 2020/21” (https://www.facebook.com/groups/585792405437081/?ref=share) or “Mustangs at Home” (https://www.facebook.com/groups/MustangsatHome/?ref=share).

Please note these are unofficial groups run by parents, not SRE or SRE PTIO.

Are you in need of Coffee and Conversation?  We all miss the conversations that used to happen at morning drop-off or afternoon pick-up. PTIO is considering hosting a monthly virtual and/or distanced in-person informal get-together for parents/families to connect. Check out upcoming Thursday folders for more information.

As always, keep checking back for up to date information or email sreptio@gmail.com with any questions, comments, or concerns.

Your SRE PTIO board,

Sonya, Ashley, Kate, and Liz
