Happy Fall Y’all! Greetings from your PTIO:

Thank you to everyone who joined our October PTIO meeting! We had many exciting updates and discussions about upcoming events and school activities.

October PTIO Meeting Highlights:
Here’s a summary of the key points from the meeting:

School Updates from Principal Hawk

  • Parent-Teacher Conferences: These were a great success, with nearly 100% participation! We received feedback that overlapping these conferences with the Book Fair or Open House would be a helpful addition for next year.
  • Ranchview Middle School Service Day: Students from Ranchview participated in the Mustang Stampede, spent time reading to our students, and even helped paint the garden fence.
  • Book Fair: The first day of the Book Fair, held after the Mustang Stampede, saw the best turnout. While this will likely be our only Book Fair of the year, we plan to bring back the popular Read-A-Thon in the Spring.
  • 3rd Grade Field Trip: PTIO sponsored transportation for the 3rd grade’s recent field trip—thank you for making this possible!
  • Book Club Meeting: Although the turnout was small it was a great discussion. Some folks can’t attend the book club in person but expressed interest in receiving a recap of the discussion. Suggestion for the next book – choose something free from the library.
  • ThunderRidge Feeder Area Meeting: Mrs. Hawk attended the meeting with the District Superintendent. She will also send out recordings of meetings related to the impending school closures for those interested.
  • Halloween Parade: This year’s parade will take place in the morning, following the tradition from previous years.

Mustang Stampede & Financial Reflection:

We’re excited to share that the Mustang Stampede raised over $33,237 for the school! Special thanks to Marcia Onda, our Volunteer of the Month, for donating and preparing healthy snacks for all the kids, and to Scott Renker for setting up the obstacle course, again this year! Our current balance is $25,000, with expected deposits bringing it to $40,000 after the Mustang Stampede and other contributions. Final costs for the Mustang Stampede, including platform fees, credit card fees and prizes, are still being determined.

Share Your Feedback on PTIO Funding Priorities

Last month, we asked SRE families about funding priorities. The current survey results showed that 56% of 36 respondents prioritize field trips, while 17% expressed interest in shade structures. However, concerns were raised about potential school consolidation, and many recommended holding off on permanent investments until a decision about the school's closure is made public next year. Everyone will VOTE at the November meeting on how to allocate Mustang Stampede funds. JOIN US or SHARE YOUR FEEDBACK before the next PTIO meeting on November 11.

Upcoming Events:
PTIO still has several fun opportunities scheduled over the next couple of weeks to bring our SRE community together. Don’t wait until after fall break to get your tickets or add the events to your calendar.
