Saddle Ranch Elementary PTIO Meeting Recap – March 10, 2024
PTIO AGENDA & MINUTES
Community Highlights & Financial Update
Spring is bringing exciting changes for the Saddle Ranch Elementary PTIO! At our March meeting, we celebrated recent successes, shared school updates, and prepared for theend of the school year – which is rapidly approaching! Highlights included a fantastic turnout for Parent-Teacher Conferences, a thrilling basketball tournament and the success of Grizzly Gives Week, which raised $3,300—a big donation from our school community! Financially, PTIO remains strong with $28,000 in funds after pending requests, and several teacher grants were approved to enhance classrooms and the staff lounge. Additionally, the playground tile replacement is pending improved weather conditions.
School Closure Update
Principal Hawk provided additional helpful updates on the potential closure of of our school including news that two Douglas County School District (DCSD) board members, Val Thompson and Tim Moore, recently toured the building, and Superintendent Erin Cane is planning visits to all 16 schools to connect with staff. Schools impacted by potential closures should be informed shortly after Spring Break. The process will involve the school district making a recommendation to the Board, which will be made public two weeks before the Board votes on the final decision. The district will inform impacted staff first, followed shortly by an email directly to parents and caregivers from the district. Community meetings will be scheduled for affected schools to help communicate changes and address concerns. The DCSD Board will vote on the recommendation during the next scheduled meeting: April 8, 2025 (Regular Board Meeting: Study Session.
Mustang Auction & Upcoming Events
Planning is in full swing for the Mustang Auction on April 12, our biggest fundraiser of the year. Adjustments have been made to cut costs while keeping the experience fun, including switching to a free bidding platform and limiting beverages to beer, wine, and champagne. Ticket sales will begin after school change announcements post-spring break. In addition, Red Robin Restaurant Night on March 13 and Skate City Night on May 13 offer more great ways to support SRE!
